Our Experience Makes the Difference

Our experienced team of attorneys can assist you with any accident or injury. Our firm provides 24 hour service and one of our attorneys can visit you in your home, office, or hospital. Merritt & Merritt Law Firm has been trusted by families since 1973 to help those injured. Dealing with insurance companies is daunting and usually they will not treat you fairly unless you have adequate legal representation. Our goal is to make sure you are fully compensated for your injuries and loss. We seek to provide you with answers and peace of mind.

Injured in an Accident? Let us help!

If you have been injured, you need to contact an attorney. Regardless of whether the accident or injury seems minor, contacting an attorney early in the process can prove beneficial. The earlier an attorney is involved, the earlier he can start to investigate your claim, obtain pictures and other evidence, interview witnesses, and build the case before these important aspects of the case dissipate. As witnesses often move and evidence sometimes gets destroyed, you should contact Merritt & Merritt Law Firm immediately so that one of our attorneys can get started on your case.

Insurance Claims – Find Out if You Have a Claim

Often insurance companies will give you the run around about your case and deny your claim. That is why you need to hire our experienced attorneys to handle your claim. We will ensure all your personal injuries and property damage claims are handled correctly.

Insurance companies have a team of attorneys working on their behalf, why shouldn’t you have a team of lawyers working to make sure you get compensated.

In order to have a personal injury claim you must have sustained an injury to your person or property. Usually, when someone has suffered an injury, there is a negligent or reckless action that caused the injury and the person at fault may be liable for your injuries and expenses. Contact us so we can evaluate whether you have a claim.

Should I Settle with the Insurance Company Without Speaking to a Car Accident Attorney First?

It is never a good idea to try to settle your car accident injury case without legal representation. Although this maybe your first accident claim you are trying to settle, the insurance adjusters at State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, and Geico will have handled thousands of claims more than you giving them an unfair advantage. You may feel in cases where the injuries and medical expenses are minimal, it may not be worth hiring an attorney but it’s always best to hire an experienced attorney. On average, our attorneys collect 300% more than if a client would have handled the claim on their own.

Should I Give a Recorded Statement to the Insurance Company?

It is never wise to give a recorded statement to an insurance adjuster. You should always speak with an attorney before speaking with an insurance company. Insurance adjusters will often record you without consent so it’s recommended not to speak with them at all. Adjusters are trained professionals; they know exactly what questions to ask you and which statements to make to get your agreement but which will later damage your case. What if I Need Money Now?

At Merritt & Merritt Law Firm, we discourage our clients from getting pre-suit loans or any type of monetary advances. Pre-suit loans are similar to any other loan: you borrow the money but you have to pay the principle plus interest back. The payoff amount normally increases every three months. For example, if you borrow $1,000 you will have to repay about $1,400 in three months; however, if don’t pay the amount for 2 years, the payoff amount will be around $3,000.

Do Most Cases Go to Trial?

No, most car accident and personal injury cases do not go to trial. Statistically, about 90% of cases settle before trial. Also, if you are against going to trial, our attorney will formulate a strategy to get you the best results without having to go to trial. Our attorneys are well versed in settling cases and we have the experience to take any size case to trial.

What Are Your Fees for a Car Accident/Personal Injury Case?

We charge a contingency fee which means you don’t pay us unless we win your case.

Car accident victims often face financial hardship. If you were injured in an accident, you may need emergency room care, chiropractic treatment, physical therapy, and time off from work to recover. All of these things cost money. The last thing you need to be worrying about on your way to recover is can you afford an attorney, that’s why we only get paid when you get paid.

We work this way because we believe strongly in representing people who truly need a lawyer, not just those who can afford expensive legal representation. We believe injury victims have rights that should be protected, and we proudly fight for them every single day in Atlanta, Statesboro, Savannah, and throughout Georgia.

Here are a Few Examples of Our Work:

  • Prior to coming to our office, the client sought help from 3 different law firms. After having his claim denied each time, he contacted our firm. In 2 months, the client’s case settled for $40,000 which was well above his medical bills.
  • Client phoned our office complaining that another firm had her case for a year and had been giving her the run around. We accepted the case, gathered the medical bills, police report, etc. and performed our due diligence. In 3 months, we settled the case for well over $100,000.
  • An insurance company decided to low ball our client after we sent them our demand. We promptly filed suit. At trial, we recovered 350% more than the last offer from the insurance company.
  • A client came to us about their child being run over and killed while crossing the street. They showed me documentation from the insurance company denying their claim. The accident report also placed the child at fault which we disagreed with. We sent a letter of representation to the insurance carrier and within 10 days the insurance company immediately tendered its policy limits meaning it paid the maximum amount of the insurance policy.
  • Our client’s foot was injured in a hardware store. We negotiated with the insurance company and was able to secure a settlement that was 7 times the client’s medical bills. A settlement that is 3 times the client’s medical bills is considered excellent.

This is a handful of results from the thousands of clients we have assisted through the years. We put everything we have into each case. Our goal is to always have a satisfied client.
